Welcome to Perspectives/IIT Math & Science Academy

Located in the former Raymond Elementary School building in the Bronzeville community, Perspectives/IIT Math & Science Academy (MSA) is the newest addition to the Perspectives network of schools. Our partnership with the Illinois Institute of Technology coupled with the leadership of Dr. Norman Lederman and Dr. Judith Lederman define the unique education model focused on scientific inquiry and problem-solving in math, science and all subjects. Innovation is found in the Math & Science Synergy Blocks – classes where students explore and apply their knowledge of math, science, technology, humanities, and the arts as they solve problems that integrate many disciplines.

As a result of this partnership, our students enjoy access to the IIT campus and many of its department heads, teachers, and students. Our students receive campus tours, internships and after school tutoring. IIT staff participates in Perspectives’ Career Panels and Dr. R. Russell Betts, Dean of the College of Arts and Letters recently served as Principal for a Day, spending time with students to discuss their plans for college and careers.

We are also grateful for the support of Motorola Solutions and the Lundbeck, whose generous funding and volunteer support helps us offer advanced scientific opportunities for our students. While these are our most significant partners, we have also worked to develop relationships with local government officials, nonprofit organizations, and schools to offer our students both in-school programming and after-school opportunities for enrichment and development.
